Boston, MA (April 17, 2026)—Sophia Institute Press is pleased to announce the release of 10 Weeks to Spiritual Advancement by Fr. Ed Broom, OMV slated for April 21 and available for pre-order.

For nearly five hundred years, The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola has transformed lives, strengthened souls, and set hearts ablaze with love for God. Saints, priests, and ordinary men and women alike have discovered through this powerful set of Christian prayers and meditations the path to clarity, courage, and holiness in their lives.

This book is not merely an explanation of the great saint’s exercises. Fr. Broom seeks to provide a practical and comprehensive playbook for spiritual renewal. Readers are guided step-by-step through a daily Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration incorporating Lectio Divina and Ignatian contemplation in a clear, structured, deeply personal way. What St. Ignatius once offered to retreatants over weeks, Fr. Broom helps readers to live steadily and fruitfully in everyday life.

As readers pray through salvation history — from the beauty of creation and the fall of the angels to the reality of sin and the overwhelming mercy of Christ — they will enter into the Gospel scenes as never before. Jesus’ life will unfold vividly before them, from His birth and hidden years through His baptism, Passion, death, and Resurrection, transforming their prayer into an encounter and their Scripture reading into a lived experience.

Along the way, Fr. Broom forms readers in the spiritual life and helps them rekindle a disciplined, joyful prayer life, and learn to discern God’s voice and reject the enemy’s lies. Readers will also learn how to overcome the obstacles that quietly steal their peace and respond generously to Christ’s call to follow Him.

Additional tools, including examinations of conscience, spiritual planning guidance, and free supplemental resources will help them build a sustainable rhythm of growth, not just a passing spiritual high.

Fr. Broom invites readers to stop drifting and start choosing — to move from confusion to clarity, and from routine to fire. His prayer manual is designed to help one enter the spiritual battle armed with wisdom, imagination, and grace.

“The goal in life is to grow in our union with Jesus and so enter into Heaven. This book by Fr. Ed Broom put us on the fast track as it helps us to see everything from the perspective of eternity, to avoid sin and worldly attachments, and to strive for holiness of life. I will be recommending this modern classic gem to everyone I know.”

Fr. Quan Tran

Virtue and Grace

“Fr. Ed Broom has done something remarkable: he has made the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius accessible to ordinary Catholics living busy, modern lives. At a time when many believers look outside their own tradition for methods of meditation, this book reveals the profound contemplative wisdom already present in the Catholic Faith. I experienced this program firsthand with Fr. Ed and found it transformative; it established a consistent Holy Hour and a depth of prayer that had long eluded me.”
